	Le Pont du Gard The Pont du Gard is a notable ancient Roman aqueduct bridge that crosses the Gard River. It is part of a 50 km (31 mi) long aqueduct that runs between Uzès and Nîmes. The aqueduct was constructed by the Romans in the 1st century AD and was added to UNESCO's list of World Heritage Sites in 1985. It is the highest of all Roman aqueduct bridges and is the best preserved after the Aqueduct of Segovia.
			Nîmes Nîmes is the capital of the Gard department in the Languedoc-Roussilon. Nîmes has a rich history, dating back to the Roman Empire, and is a popular tourist destination. The city derives its name from that of a spring in the Roman village.
	Les Saintes Maries de la Mer Saintes-Maries-de-la-Mer is the capital of the Camargue. The commune comprises alluvial land and marshland, and includes the Étang de Vaccarès, a large lagoon.and the Camargue's horses and bulls are famous. The town is a pilgrimage destination for Roma (Gypsies), who gather yearly in the town for a religious festival in honor of Saint Sarah.
